My Behavior Policy
I believe that taking the time to build strong and caring relationships with students goes a very long way with classroom management. We actively practice problem-solving, conflict resolution and self-control in our class. I use a variety of different positive reinforcements, and let natural consequences run their course for negative behaviors. At this age, social skills and self-regulation are still developing, so we practice, practice practice the right way!

ConsequencesWhenever possible, I use natural consequences in class. For example, if students play around during worktime, they must work during playtimes, or if students forget how to line up properly, we take some time to practice lining up. We also use time-outs after repeating the direction and giving one warning. Time-outs allow the children to calm themselves, think about their behavior and then "try again" (one of my favorite phrases). Private student-teacher conferences are also used as needed. |
