Later in the day, Jonathan shared his expertise in origami by demonstrating how to make a paper airplane, a fortune teller and a swan. Watch the kids below as they play with their creations.
You may not know it, but Mrs. C has been out of class for over two weeks now due to a serious injury to her back. She is at home right now and being treated by her doctors, and we really miss her happy smile here at 123 Kinderstreet! So we created this video especially for her to lift her spirits, and to let her know that we haven't forgotten her. Also, today was "Take Your Child To Work Day". So Mrs. Jenkins brought two of her boys, Brendan and Jonathan to help out in the classroom. Brendan read a book of poems to the kids called "Stella, Unleashed". Later in the day, Jonathan shared his expertise in origami by demonstrating how to make a paper airplane, a fortune teller and a swan. Watch the kids below as they play with their creations. Have a super weekend!

Spring is in the air at 123 KinderStreet! As the kids begin to feel the warm breezes blow, they are catching what we teachers jokingly call "Spring Fever". Students are wiggly and giggly, and easily forget our class rules and routines. You can help us contain your child's natural exuberance by going over the class rules at home once or twice this week. We usually recite the rules as a chant with hand motions. Ask your child to teach you the motions, and practice them in the morning before they leave for school. Here is another little rhyme we learned back in August that you could do with your child to remind them to follow the rules. Rules Rap (slap thighs and clap hands to make a slap-slap-clap rhythm) Rules can be helpful, rules can be good! We follow the rules the way we should. We always do right, and we never do wrong. The world's a happy place when we all get along! Field trips are coming!!! We are so glad to be able to offer some in-house field trips this month. The first permission slip went home already, and that is for two visits from the Nature Center. Most have already turned in money and permission slips. If you have not yet done so, please do that on Monday. A second permission slip will be coming home with your child this week for the Kinderman Show. Kinderman is an amazing one-man-show with exciting rhymes and music that teach kids their basic skills. Follow this link to learn more about Kinderman. Please return the permission slip and money as soon as you can. The kids will really love these two shows! One other bit of houskeeping pertains to this horrible virus that is going around our classroom. We are so sorry that many of the students have been very sick with high fevers over the past month (and teachers too). We are doing our part in class by wiping surfaces daily with disinfecting wipes (thanks to those who donated those recently). Please help us out by keeping your child at home if they have a fever, rash, vomiting or diarrhea, and keep them at home until those symtoms have abated for 24 hours. Thanks for your cooperation on this. Stay well, and have a great day!
