One of the great end-of-year activities that we all look forward to each Spring is Field Day. Next Wednesday, May 30th will be a special fun day for students in grades K-2. The kids will play competitive games and participate in water activities out in the field with Mr. Unger and his helpers. For Field Day, each child will need the following: A towel A cold water bottle A red shirt (for the Jenkins team) tennis shoes (for safe running) The activities last from 8:00 to 10:00, so if you can join us, please do! We have had a BLAST creating, and then playing, our math Angry Birds game this month. The idea came from Mr. Smith of Teacher Tipster.com, who we love to watch in class. To play, we divide the class into three teams: the throwers, the clean-up crew, and the scorers. Each box is assigned a different value (1, 5 or 100 for the two huge boxes). The scorers have to use their skip counting and addition skills to add up the points for the other team. Check out the slideshow below to watch how we created this angry game. Finally, our copy machines have been turned back on. However, the school must now pay the county per copy, since we have reached our quota for the year. So I will communicate as much as possible via email for the rest of this school year. Please check your emails frequently for any updates or notes I may send.
Thanks for your cooperation...It's almost over folks!!!!

Hello, This is just a quick reminder that the Animal Book Report is due this coming Friday. The children will be presenting their project on Friday morning, as well as creating a Blabber video short to put here on the website. If you haven't gotten started, now's the time!!!! Remember, this counts as a classwork grade. Also, here is a great website that teaches about the night sky, and shows what the phase the moon will be in tonight: Kids Astronomy.com |
